HOW TO MAKE LAUNDRY POWDER

I have been busy researching how to make my own laundry powder and fabric conditioner.  For me there were too many perfumes going on in each product bought from the supermarkets.  They would irritate my nose and interfere with my own personal choice of perfume I would rather smell of.  So after some extensive research on the internet, this is the recipe I have settled on.  And it works a treat.

In fact my washing looks cleaner, especially my lights and whites.  I have been very impressed.  I haven't worked out just how economical it is until I run out.  But from what other homemade enthusiasts have written the recipe amount can last for up to 11 months.  Of course it would depend on the size of the boxed quantities used and how often you machine wash per day/week.  I can't wait to see.  So here is the recipe that I am now using.

WASHING POWDER:

1 part Borax - 1kg
1 part Washing Soda - 1kg
1 large bar of soap - 250grams

In a large container used only for this purpose mix together the Borax and Washing Soda.  Grate the large bar of soap and mix in.  Store in an airtight container.  I use 2 tablespoons of powder per normal frontload wash. If washing heavily soiled clothing I use more.

Give it a try.  It will be more economical, more green, saving the planet and lighten allergy sufferers within your family.

The Illusionists 2.0

Good morning everyone!  What a great day it is starting out to be.  I hope you all had a good weekend.  I did even though the Auckland weather was wet and very blustery.  Not such a good start to Spring, but a typical pattern.

Hubby and I went to see The Illusionists 2.0 at the Civic Auckland on Saturday night.  What a fantastic night!  I just didn't want the evening to end.  Such talented illusionists.

Good interaction with the audience.  Each and everyone of us took part in one act.  I can highly recommend these guys.  So if you every see them advertised again, don't hold back, book a ticket...

DAFFODIL DAY NZ

Well here we are at the end of another week. Please to remember 29 August is Daffodil Day.  A remembrance of all past and present sufferers of the cancer disease.  My mother died some 20 years ago after being diagnosed only a few months before she passed away.  It had gone undetected.

I know this cancer affects just about every family in some way.  Not just those with it but also the friends and families around them.  So please take a minute to think of those close ones and say a prayer.

If you see a collector do give a gold coin or two towards the research facilities who are doing a great job.  Just wish we had good news around the corner in preventing and curing this illness.  I love and miss you mum.  Think of you everyday xxx
